I decided to take my time driving out to Utah. It’s about a 20 hour drive and I figured I’d make it in three days, just because I don’t want to push it. I want to get into Utah with enough time to set up my AirBnB to make sure I’m ready for school on Monday.
That was the original travel plan, but then I realized if I made it three days of driving but did a lot the first two, I could actually get to Snowbasin by 10-11 a.m. and ski for the day. I’ll still check-in by 5 p.m. and get set-up, but I get to add a day of skiing.
I left Chicago at 8:30 and made good time. It’s an easy drive and I had good weather. Nothing too interesting about the drive. I decided, for no good reason, to start the trip by playing The Smiths discography (Studio albums only)
1. The Smiths
2. Meat is Murder
3. The Queen is Dead
4. Strangeways, Here We Come.
After that, I listened to a podcast (Hidden Brain) and some random music before choosing my next artist’s discography: The Clash (Studio and Live albums, but not compilations).
1. The Clash
2. Give ’em Enough Rope
3. London Calling
4. Sandinista
That’s where I left off because I made it to my first night’s stop. I’ve spent the night watching Band of Brothers (again) on the History Channel, eating leftover Thanksgiving food, and reading a book.
I’ll wake up, have some hotel breakfast and hit the road. I’m planning on an 8-9 hour drive tomorrow so I have a 2-3 hour drive on Sunday. I can be at the mountain skiing by 10 a.m. and get in a full day on the slopes. Can’t do that in Chicago.
