Welcome

Today…

As I mentioned yesterday (ok, two minutes ago), my B days are fairly empty. I have a class from 7:15 to 8:35 (my time), 10:00 to 10:50, and that’s it. I used the gap between the classes to work. I was able to finish up a test I’m giving tomorrow (already had the test, just had to change it to online format), and prepare for the rest of the week. I still had time to run out for some aspirin. I have slept poorly the last two nights and had raging headaches both nights. I wish I could say it was hangover related because that meant at least I had a drink. I haven’t had anything to drink. It’s just a headache for headache’s sake. I’m about 4,300 feet up which isn’t THAT high, but it’s more than the roughly 600 feet of Chicago. Whatever.

I have to admit, I didn’t like feeling crappy all by myself. Not that I wanted some TLC, but I kept thinking if something did happen to me I’d be on the news as the body found because neighbors couldn’t take the smell of rotting body. I don’t think I want to live alone for that reason alone. Back in college my roommate helped take care of an old guy. He’d buy groceries and other errands. After not hearing from him for some days we drove over there. I waited in the car while Bob ran up to his apartment. Of course, 10 minutes later an ambulance pulls up. Really sadly, the guy wasn’t dead, but had been lying in his own filth for like three days unable to move. That was running through my head last night.

Anyway, on to happier things.

My last class ended at 11:30 my time. I did one or two things at my place but still managed to hit the slopes by 12:20. Even after a fews days I’m starting to learn the tricks. There is a parking lot BEFORE you get to the base of the resort. If you park there, you can ski down to the flight. It’s like ski-in ski-out parking.

I skied until 1:40. I have “office hours” from 1:40 to 2:20 so I sat on the patio near a fire with my phone out open to my office hours Google Meet. As usual, no student stopped by so when it ended I hopped back on the gondola for another few runs. I had a very nice gondola ride with a guy from SLC who clued me in on some other places to ski and avoid (tips like “parking there is brutal, you have to get there early). Along with us were two kids, probably 10 and 8 (brother and sister). They are homeschooled and ski every day as “recess.” They clued me in (well, all of them) on how to avoid being trampled by a moose. Apparently there are moose all over and they will attack people. It wasn’t like I’m going to be the dumbs who tries to pet one or get a selfie, but good to know I better keep on skiing just in case Bullwinkle is pissy.

My Ski Tracks is once again glitching. I had a total of six runs in two hours (those gondolas and ski lifts take forever…plus, I’m slow). I covered 8,358 feet of elevation and approximately 10 miles. It’s still mostly the same few runs and lifts, but that’s fine with me. For one, it’s more runs and lifts than I have in Chicago. For another, I’m still getting my legs back and have plenty of time to ski the rest of the mountain.

Came back to my place, played guitar and now I’m going to read, binge watch, eat dinner and go to sleep.   Nice.
