Welcome

Weekend fun…

I wasn’t able to exercise yesterday because of work (and some soreness).  Still, I fell asleep at 8:40 and slept until 7:00.  Dang!  It was the second night in a row I slept through the night.  I guess I’m acclimating to being away and at 5000 ft.

Last night it snowed about 2″.  Not enough to open more lifts/runs, but it was something.  I left out around 8 a.m. to get gas and hit the mountain.  I knew the kids’ ski schools would be out, but I hoped to beat teenage snowboarders who might still be asleep.  Plus, I wanted to get back in time to get some work done.  I didn’t beat anyone to the mountain.  It was more crowded than ever. Ski teams, ski schools, plus everyone else.  I was able to park in the upper lot and ski right to a lift.  I did those runs 2x and then decided to go to the base to the gondola to the top.  Didn’t make that mistake again.  The line literally wrapped around into the parking lot.  Brutal.  After that, I just stayed on the mountain and didn’t go all the way to the base.  It was getting more crowded so after my usual 2 hours or so I cut out.  Still a good day skiing, but I do prefer the weekdays.  It’s supposed to snow upwards of 12″ in the next few days so hopefully more runs will open.  Even so, I’m down to $171 per day and $28 per run on my season pass “worth it” metric.  One more day and I’m below the daily pass (I know these numbers don’t necessarily make sense unless one assumes I was going to go this many times at the full day rate anyway…I am assuming that for this).

No matter the crowds, I was happy to go on a Saturday because when I finished I stopped at the Chick Fil A near me.  Every time I get an urge of it, it’s Sunday.  Not kidding, one reason I went skiing today was just to build up an appetite knowing it was open.  And, to be honest, I don’t even think Chick Fil A is all that.  It’s good.  It’s tasty, but I don’t think it’s uniquely awesome fast food.  But, now and again, I just get the hankering for it same as I do Taco Bell.

I’m going to spend the rest of the day reading and watching football.  I decided I wanted to read more and challenged myself to read a book a week.  Why I then picked a 913-page book is beyond me.  I’m on page 300 so I have a lot of reading to do today and tomorrow.
