Over the last month or so I’ve been trying to get back into triathlon mode. I won’t say triathlon shape because I’m not even close, but I do want to increase my fitness. Since August I’ve been fairly consistent doing strength training. In the last five weeks, I’ve been perfectly consistent doing 5×5 strength training. Today I hit some top weight and will probably have to re-adjust, but it’s been a steady improvement.
I re-joined a nearby gym so I could swim and I’m working on being consistent there. I’m not trying for much; just twice a week.
My plan is 2x bike, 2x swim, 2x run, 3x strength for early to mid-winter, and then maybe pick it up a bit. Maybe not.
Today’s swim was a nice one.

I had a bit extra time today because I took a day off from work. I just had enough of my “clients” and needed a break. It was glorious. I did 90 minutes of work and got ahead for a change, lifted, ran an errand, swam, did more work, and now it’s still mid-afternoon. Yet again though, this glimpse of what life could be like in retirement isn’t making going back tomorrow easier. I am ready to be done working. More, I’m just kind of done giving. My entire work career has been around public service and I’m done with it. Sisyphus may be happy with futility because he knows his purpose; I am not. But, I’m not going to turn this blog into a whine fest. I just needed to get that out to the world for no good reason.
